NEED FOR NATURE WEEK is a hybrid festival that combines internationally available virtual events with physical in-person events throughout Denmark, where the festival organizer NEED FOR NATURE GROUP is headquartered.
The festival language is primarily English. However, you will also meet our Danish-speaking team in our physical in-person events.
Why NEED FOR NATURE WEEK?
We live in a time characterized by uncertainty. Separation is our premise, and with an increasing disconnection from what we came from, has followed an indifference, and an ego-centered pattern of action that now has noticeable consequences on both people and the environment.
We are in a global prosperity crisis - we have great socio-economic inequality in health, and allow ourselves to be pressured by norms coming from outside. Never before have so many lived with mental imbalances, diagnoses, and the inability to ground themselves.
Our planetary home is changing - we are exterminating 150 species daily, depleting natural oil and gas resources, we have waved goodbye to the UN's AGENDA 2030 target of a global temperature increase of max. 1.5 percent. This year we consume more than 2.5 of the earth's resources, we have created a new geological Anthropocene age with our actions, and live with daily news media reports of "imminent danger of collapse".
And the craziest thing is... THAT WE DO IT CONSCIOUSLY. WE KNOW.
Humans are the first species on the planet to be aware of the consequences of their actions, but still continue (!) On BLACK FRIDAY 2023, the world's shoppers spent $9.8 billion on material bargains. In 2024, the amount is estimated to increase to 11 billion dollars - Friday only. In addition, BLACK WEEK, CYBER MONDAY and BLACK NOVEMBER. All this is at the heart of the growing interest in the Nature Connectedness field.
Another way is needed. NOW! This is our big WHY for inviting you to NEED FOR NATURE WEEK.
Who is inviting you to the NEED FOR NATURE WEEK Festival?
NEED FOR NATURE GROUP is a small group with a great passion for nature, on a global mission to save our planet one natureconnected human being at a time. NEED FOR NATURE GROUP today operates in six subsidiaries with particular expertise in management, health promotion, pedagogy and experience-based tourism, and has founded the not-for-profit movement NEED FOR NATURE MOVEMENT.

Founding CEO Tanya Uhnger Wünsche says the following about the mission of

"After decades in Acedemic Centres of Competence, Boards and Think Tank forums, I have both felt firmly planted in my field, and at the same time constantly behind in relation to where I and we should be. With a life marked by both an academic longing to be able to document and argue for everything, and simultaneously another part of life in a closely connected relationship with the globe's large wilderness areas and fantastic indigenous cultures naturally believing in a more universal connectedness, I have longed for the transition from thought to action. That is why NEED FOR NATURE GROUP was conceived. As an internationally connected Act Tank, we want to inspire and transform to a more natureconnected way of life and build up the necessary skills to act. The time when we merely think has to be over. In a world that has often caused me great sadness and concern for the future, I have gradually landed in an enormously soft place. A place where I feel that separation is an illusion, a place where I feel that we are stronger together - and a place from which the mission to ensure my fellow human-beings an experience of being able to listen to and act on their inner genetically founded need for connectedness to nature, feels less lonely - because there are more and more of us who want to go in the same direction. We would like to help promote this power of connectedness, which is why NEED FOR NATURE WEEK, NEED FOR NATURE MOVEMENT and NEED FOR NATURE GROUP exist and we look forward to sharing this festival with you.”

Created by NEED FOR NATURE GROUP — an international Act Tank working for planetary and human well-being — the festival invites you to pause, reflect, and act. Through a full week of online and in-person events, you’ll explore the power of nature connectedness as a path toward meaningful change.
Whether you’re a seasoned nature connector or just curious to start your journey, you are welcome. Especially if you don’t (yet) think of yourself as a “nature person.”
